As the world becomes more digital, the ability to read, understand, and interpret visual media has become a crucial skill. The CLIP Project (Critical Visual Media Literacy and Empowerment) aims to equip European Higher Education students with the skills needed to tackle misinformation caused by the manipulation of images.
To raise awareness about the importance of Visual Media Literacy, the project is organising an online event during the ALL DIGITAL WEEKS campaign. The event will take place on 3rd May 2023 at 4:00 PM CET, and it will be an opportunity for educators and students to learn more about this critical topic.
During the 60-minute session, Simona Pezzano (IULM University) will define Visual literacy and explain how we learn through images. The audience will also participate in an activity called “What’s going on in this picture?” to understand the complexity of visual media interpretation.
Additionally, the CLIP project will be presented, focusing on the creation of innovative tools and training to equip Higher Education students with the necessary skills to counteract misinformation caused by the manipulation of images. The session will end with a Q&A session, and stakeholders working in the same field can exchange good practices.
